Dear members of UENPS, delegates, dear all,

as President of the Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies, I want to welcome you to the 8th UENPS Conference.
After a long way from its foundation in Vienna, July 1st, 2006, the UENPS is growing and fitting our goals.
The UENPS represents countries and governing bodies of each national society. The UENPS wants to collaborate with all the scientific societies in all the countries in Europe.
The mission of UENPS is to improve healthcare in the neonatal and perinatal medicine in Europe.
Our main goals of UENPS are to improve quality in perinatal and neonatal care by integrating, coordinating and adding national and scientific societies’ efforts.
To achieve this, the UENPS wants to promote the knowledge of the perinatal indicators and to develop recommendations, guidelines, training of the healthcare givers and any other tools to achieve the best healthcare for every newborn and surveillance of neonatal rights wherever they are born. For this goal, we organize in collaboration with the hosting local society the UENPS conference; “Global Neonatology & Perinatology”, with World Top experts. The 8th Conference will take place in Bucharest where, with the Romanian national society of Perinatology and Neonatology, we hope to meet all your expectative. A great effort will be made to present a programme with a balanced content, including research, clinical practice, daily problems and future perspectives. We will do our best to ensure that your goals and expectations in this conference are exceeded.

Silvia Maria Stoicescu

Dear colleagues,

The Romanian neonatologists are honored to welcome you at the 8th International Congress of UENPS to be held in Bucharest, Romania, in October 2018.
We are convinced that you are anxious to have a fruitfully exchange of views and experiences on the health of newborns, to discuss today’s methods of care used in neonatology. We can enjoy this opportunity with guests from neonatology and perinatology universities from Europe and from all over the world. We are eager to have with us as many young people as possible to benefit from the knowledge and experience of already established personalities working in the field of neonatology.
We believe that this congress is an opportunity for neonatal medical education, as well as an opening for new collaborations in the field of research among the members of the international neonatal and perinatal medical team.
We invite you to know each other, to collaborate, to have an enjoyable experience together in Bucharest. Bucharest has been established as the capital of Romania since the eighteenth century. First mentioned in chronicles dating back to the end of the fourteen century, it was prince Vlad the Impaler who raised it to the rank of dominee residence.
Bucharest is one of the largest cities in Eastern Europe with a population that puts it in the 10th position in the European Union. It is the most important industrial, commercial, academic and medical center of the country. With an elegant architecture and specific urban atmosphere, it was called “Little Paris” during the Belle Epoque. Bucharest is home of the second largest building world-wide (the Parliament of Romania), and it is where we will have the opportunity to meet for the duration of the Congress.
“The City of Joy” is the name of Bucharest in the 17th century. That is why we hope at the 8th International Congress of UENPS which is to be held Bucharest will be full of optimism and hope and, at the end of which we will have lots of accomplishments to help us in our work.
